Guidelines for Manuscript Preparation

All manuscripts should be written in English in A4 size with 1-inch margins. The title page should be there, which includes,

  • Full title of the article
  • Running title
  • Full names of the authors
  • Full institutional mailing addresses
  • Email address and ORICD ID of the corresponding author

All manuscripts should be accompanied by a covering letter addressing either the Editor-in-Chief or the Coordinating Editor of Applied Biosystems Technology.

Manuscript Formatting

Language All the manuscripts must be submitted in English.
File format Manuscript files can be submitted as .doc, .docx, pdf or.rtf.
Length Manuscripts can be of any length. There are no restrictions on word count,number of figures, or amount of supporting information.
Font Times New Roman, 12 sized fonts.
Headings Section headings should be carefully placed in bold letters.
Layout and spacing Manuscript text should be double-spaced.
Page and line numbers Page numbers and line numbers (continuous form) should be included.
Abbreviations A minimum level of abbreviations is preferred. All abbreviations should be clearly defined upon first appearance in the text.
Reference style “Vancouver” referencing style should be used.
Equations All equations should be inserted by using the Equation Editor or Microsoft’s Insert→Equation function.
Units SI units should be used as the units of measurements.
Nomenclature The standard nomenclature systems mentioned below should be followed.
  • International Code of Nomenclature for Algae, Fungi, and Plants
  • International Code of Nomenclature of Bacteria
  • International Code of Zoological Nomenclature.
  • International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry
  • IUPAC-IUB Combined Commission

Manuscript Organization

All manuscripts should be organized under following sections.

  • Title Page
  • Abstract (A structured abstract with less than 300 words, followed by 3-5 key words).
  • Background
  • Methodology
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • List of abbreviations
  • Declarations
    • All manuscripts must contain the following sections under “Declarations”
    • Ethics approval (If applicable)
    • Consent for publication
    • Competing interests
    • Funding
    • Authors’ contributions
    • Acknowledgements
  • References (Vancouver reference style)
    • Article within a journal

Authors should include all figures and tables in the manuscript in the main text.

Preparation of Figures

All figures should be cited in the manuscript in a consecutive order. Figures should be self-explanatory and supplied in .ppt, .pptx, .xlx, .tiff, .jpg, .giff, .png formats, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. Relevant figure captions and legends should be provided. If the article is accepted, authors will have to provide the source files of the figures.

Preparation of Tables

Tables should also be cited consecutively in the text. Every table must have a descriptive title with any notes. Units should be included in the column title, if numerical measurements are presented. Vertical rules should not be used.

Supplementary Materials

Authors can submit one to three supplementary materials along with their manuscript to further elaborate the findings.

Proofing

Upon acceptance, authors will be asked to submit a clean version of the accepted manuscript and gallery proofs will be forwarded to the corresponding authors for comments. Corrected proofs must be returned to the publisher within two to three days of receipt.
